Partners & Community

Fieldwork exists to serve journalism. We partner with the organizations that protect it.

Supporting journalism

Every tool evaluation we publish is free. If you'd like to support the journalists and organizations that make this work possible, consider contributing to one of these partners.

Partner with us

Are you a journalism organization, j-school, or newsroom? We'd love to work together.

Evaluation partnerships

We evaluate the tools your members use. You share the results with your community. Your members get actionable security information they can't find elsewhere.

Distribution partnerships

Share our resources with your community. Link to our evaluations, embed our programs page, include us in your tool recommendations. Everything we publish is free.

Advisory partnerships

Review our evaluations for accuracy. Help us prioritize which tools to assess next. Lend your expertise to our methodology. We're building an advisory board and want perspectives from working journalists and security practitioners.

For tool makers

We evaluate tools fairly using our published methodology. The criteria are public. The process is the same for every tool.

How to engage

  • Request a review: Email us with your tool name and a brief description. We prioritize by journalist usage, not by who asks.
  • Correct an evaluation: If something is factually wrong, submit a correction. We respond within 7 days.
  • Provide documentation: Security audits, privacy certifications, and data handling documentation strengthen evaluations. Send them our way.

We don't accept payment for reviews. We don't offer "premium" listings. Every tool is evaluated the same way.
